A reservation cannot be changed with 24 hours notice. Changes before 24 hours are possible, but may incur a charge. All bookings within 24 hours are final, so they cannot be changed or subject to refund.

If you cancel the tour at least 7 days before departure, there is no cancellation fee. If the cancellation occurs between 6 and 4 days before departure, a penalty of 50% will be charged. If the tour is canceled within 3 days (72 hours) of departure, a 100% cancellation fee will be charged. The refund will only be made if the tour has been paid for and booked directly with Ancient & Recent, within one week of cancellation. Payment will not be refunded for any other reason (weather, change of travel plans, illness, missed train …) In case of rain, all our tours run regularly. Once you add an activity to your cart, we will reserve your seat for you for 45 minutes. If you need more time, bookmark the activity so you don’t forget it. Please note that if you run out of places for a favorite activity, it will no longer be possible to purchase it.

Yes. For each of our tours there is a reduced rate for children from 0 to 17 years old. Each amount varies depending on the tour chosen.
We only need you and certainly your voucher to show to the guide on the day of the tour for check-in.
It is not necessary to carry the printed voucher with you. You can also show it from your smartphone or tablet. We recommend that you always carry it with you as it contains important information for the meeting point. It must be presented to the guide on the day of the tour.

Yes. We are at your complete disposal to respond to any need or requirement. All last minute requests are accepted, availability permitting. You can check availability for the time and day of the tour you are interested in. If it is not available, contact the number +39 3313586107 to be advised on something else or on an alternative suitable for you!
We always advise our customers not to show up at the meeting point on the day of the tour without a reservation, as there may be the possibility of not being able to guarantee a place on the tour.

No. We do not offer such services. Each transfer to reach the meeting point of the booked tour is absolutely individual.

Extra
No. The purchase of the skip-the-line ticket only provides for entry to the monument of interest. The audio guide service, depending on the place to visit, can be purchased inside with an extra payment.
It is the responsibility of each participant to arrive on time or even 15 minutes before the tour start time. Customers who fail to arrive at the meeting point on time will lose their participation in the tour. ATTENTION: in the event that the tour is lost due to the customer’s own responsibility, there will be no refund.
The meeting point varies from tour to tour. You must be sure that you have received the voucher with all the necessary information. Above you will find a small map with all the details of the meeting point (Street, Square, Number and GPS coordinates). We recommend that all our customers arrive at least 15 minutes before the tour start time.
At the meeting point indicated on the voucher, you will find the staff with a black flag with a golden “Ancient & Recent” logo – Virtual Reality Tour.
Surely the clothing depends on the type of tour chosen. If the tour includes entering a church or place of worship, for example the Vatican Museums, it will be advisable for men and women to have their knees and shoulders covered.
No. Within the tours it is not possible to bring pets such as dogs and cats as they are not allowed in museums and in respect of other participants.
Check on the tour of your choice if the latter is accessible for a stroller. Not all places of worship accept strollers inside. Make sure it’s not bulky but foldable and lightweight
We always try to convince our customers to leave bulky or large items at home or in the hotel, to certainly ensure greater safety for themselves and for other tour participants. Not all art sites or museums have luggage storage. Taking them with you would mean risking entry to the monument of interest.
Colosseum
No. To visit the Colosseum there are set times that allow you to quota visitors in the monument. The time indicated in black above your ticket must be absolutely respected. If you do not arrive in time for entry, the loss of your shift will be inevitable.
Yes. Inside the Colosseum it is possible to use the lift to go upstairs. Unfortunately, however, due to the uneven terrain at the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, the visit is strongly discouraged.
Yes. The Virtual Reality experience has been designed for all those who want to learn history while having fun. Each participant can choose to select their own language: English, Italian, Spanish, French, German and Portuguese.
It is allowed to bring items suitable for a visit inside the monument. Food and drinks are not allowed; glass objects; Swiss Army Knives; animals; large bags or backpacks. It is advisable to bring a hat and a bottle or plastic bottle in the summer.
Each tour or option chosen has its own duration. The guided tour of the Colosseum lasts approximately 1 hour. The guided tour of the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill lasts 2.5 / 3 hours. For more information read the details given in the text at the time of booking.
No. The Colosseum Archaeological Park will be closed on December 25th and January 1st.
No. Pets, such as dogs and cats, are not allowed inside the Colosseum.
No. Unfortunately, unlike other places of art or museums, the Colosseum does not have a luggage room. If you show up with a large suitcase or large bag, entry inside the monument is not guaranteed.
Yes. The Colosseum ticket is valid for 24 hours. It is important to respect the entry time to the Colosseum written on the ticket. We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes early to be sure not to miss the entrance.
Yes. The Colosseum Ticket is valid for three sites of interest: Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. It is important to respect the time of entry to the monument. If you were to delay the ticket would no longer be valid and this would result in losing the entrance to the Colosseum.
The Virtual Reality experience is done exclusively outside the Colosseum. At the end of it, each participant will be accompanied to the entrance to continue the visit based on the option chosen: Skip the Line Ticket or Guided Tour.
Vatican
Yes. The Museums welcome families with children of all ages. The Custody Corps, present in each exhibition hall, will take care to indicate the easiest route and the closest lifts. Along the way it will be possible to find spaces with changing tables and nursing rooms for breastfeeding.
No. Food and alcoholic and spirits are not allowed. It is strictly forbidden to consume food and drinks in the museum. For this reason, vending machines and dining rooms are available along the exhibition halls
Certainly. The Sistine Chapel is located inside the Vatican Museums. It is a fundamental step not to be missed.
No. Guide dogs for blind people (with leash and muzzle) and animals for therapeutic purposes are exceptions, as long as justified by a medical certificate (pet therapy).
Yes. The Vatican Museums have free luggage storage. Each guest is required to check in their baggage and only collect it once the tour is over. Due to the distance between the start and end points of the tour, participants are forced to leave the tour early in order to collect their bags. This is why we always advise tourists to travel light and with small bags.
No. To enter the Vatican Museums or the Basilica, as for other places of worship, there is a very strict dress code to follow. Men, women and children must have their knees and shoulders strictly covered. Therefore: shorts, tank tops, short skirts and tops are not allowed.
Yes, as long as without flash. Inside the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica, billions of photographs can be taken. It is not allowed to take them in the Sistine Chapel.
No. To visit the Dome of St. Peter an extra ticket is required to be done directly on site. It costs 6 euro if you want to climb all 551 steps, while it costs 8, you intend to use the lift to the terrace and then continue on foot. None of our tours include going up to the Dome. On Sunday and Wednesday the Dome of St. Peter is closed to the public, it is possible to visit it on all other days.
Circus Maximus
Being an experience that does not involve entering a monument, there is no prohibition on carrying large luggage. It is definitely the responsibility of each customer to pay attention to their bag or luggage. It is advisable to arrive light and comfortable for the tour in view of any movements planned during the visit.
Yes. Inside the Circus Maximus, being an open area, pets are allowed. However, during the Virtual Reality experience, we advise our customers not to take pets with them, out of respect for the other tour participants

No. Our Virtual Reality tours of the Circus Maximus do not include the ticket to the archaeological area. Based on time availability, it is possible to buy them directly on site, with an extra payment.
Rome Walking Tour
We always recommend that you dress comfortably, ready to face a good walk. Definitely bring a camera, a good mood and a large dose of smiles.
No. Our walking tour does not include tickets for Rome’s attractions or museums. It is a tour of about 2.5 / 3 H which includes a walk through the squares and alleys of the city.
Rome Food Tour
The gastronomic experience lasts about 3 hours.
No. Pets are not allowed.
If you have any intolerances, severe allergies or celiacs, we strongly advise against taking part in the tour itself. For gluten-free or vegetarian options, it is important to communicate them in advance upon request.
Absolutely yes. The food tour includes wine tastings and typical Roman dishes. However, we always recommend that you bring some extra money if you want to buy gadgets or ingredients typical of Roman culinary specialties.
